Today EA announced what will be added to FIFA 23 as part of its 2022 Qatar World Cup offering. From November 11th we'll see a raft of additions which look set to really add a new dimension to FIFA Ultimate Team and the wider game.
Is there going to be FUT World Cup Mode?
In FIFA 23 there will not be a FUT mode like we have had in previous FIFA editions. A FIFA World Cup 2022 Mode will be incorporated into the game itself but not for Ultimate Team. This is likely due to the timing of the World Cup, previously it would have come at the end of the cycle.
In the standalone non-FUT mode we will have the following available to us:
- FIFA World Cup™ Kick Off
- FIFA World Cup™ 2022 Tournaments
- Online Tournaments
- FIFA World Cup™: Live
- Featured Quickplay
- Online Quickplay
- Your FIFA World Cup™
FIFA 23 World Cup Mode explained
All 32 qualified nations are available to use in FIFA 23's FIFA World Cup mode in an authentic recreation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Players can also substitute teams into the tournament that missed out, meaning for example Italy can be used in the FIFA 23 World Cup mode.
The game modes launch on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
How will the World Cup mode impact FUT?
2022 World Cup content will be coming to FUT 23 on Friday, November 11, 2022 running until Friday, December 23, 2022. During this time, new FUT Campaigns including World Cup Swaps will be released along with live player items that receive progression upgrades based on each nation's progress in the tournament.
Authentic team kits, stadium dressings, visuals, match balls, dedicated commentary and more will also be added to FUT to make it as authentic as possible.
The “World Cup Path to Glory” event will also be coming to Ultimate Team from November 11 to November 23, with 30 unique World Cup Heroes set to be released and presented in a custom World Cup themed Hero shell.
As the knockout stages begin, EA will celebrate the most impactful moments in the World Cup, celebrating key moments from qualification that captivated the world. Once the quarter-finals arrive, FIFA fans will be greeted by a new class of World Cup FUT Phenoms, uplifting the performances of some of football’s brightest stars.
As the end of the 2022 World Cup arrives, a Team of the Tournament will be released into Ultimate Team, with the players involved given permanently boosted player items.
Are you disappointed not to see a FUT World Cup Mode? Or do you feel it would have detracted from the main FUT mode too early in the cycle?
