World Cup Stories have arrived in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team so we have updated this to showcase everything that's included with the arrival of the new promo.
FIFA 23 World Cup Stories - Promo Details Confirmed
Last night we said the following:
"The overall feeling seems to be that with the name Stories, it should be something similar to the Moments SBC and Objective players that we get. As the promotion is released just at the end of the Group Stage, although the final Group G games don't start until after the promotion is released, it should all be themed around 'stories' that have happened so far at the 2022 World Cup.
This could be a range from record-breaking moments, key parts that helped a nation progress from their groups, or even more sentimental from a story that uplifted or motivated a group of people. EA could take it anywhere, and it will be interesting to see what we get."
Tonight along with the content drop, EA confirmed what World Cup Stories featured players did to earn their card in FIFA 23:
"As the Knockout Stages approach, it's time to celebrate the players who have written past and present FIFA World Cup headlines for their countries". So we were correct on the predictions of players who had made a considerable impact on their teams at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, but it also includes players from past World Cups as well. This should open us up to the potential of Flashback Stories SBCs and Objectives players.
FIFA 23 World Cup Stories Promo Team
It's a decent start to the World Cup Stories promo with 15 players already in packs, and it's likely we will see another 3 added on Sunday as part of a mini-release. Plenty of the players featured had already been leaked on social media but there are definitely a few surprises thrown in there.
One thing that seems very important to highlight is that EA is continuing to give us players who are free agents (currently don't have a club), which you can see with Dani Alvesand Cavani and this is why I think we will 100% see some unique Flashback Stories SBC and Objectives players. Hopefully, EA can build on this and give us some unique content over the next week or so.
FIFA 23 World Cup Stories SBC & Objective Players
We didn't get a World Cup Stories SBC player, but instead, we did get some World Cup-themed content in the form of another Showdown SBC. This time it was for the upcoming Round of 16 matches between the Netherlands and the USA.
It's slightly disappointing to see Bergwijn featured as the Netherlands player in this showdown as although he's been given a weak foot upgrade, he already has an 85-rated upgradable card in the game. They could have picked literally anyone else from the team for this and it would have been better.
Representing the USA is Brenden Aaronson who is exactly the sort of player we should see featured in Showdowns like this, players that might not normally get a promo card of any kind. He does get a great link to OTW Adams, who is now due an upgrade but at this point in the game, Adams will be a considerable amount behind the power curve.
Speaking of USA players though, there is another link option for Aaronson if you want to go and complete the new Weah Objective player. Weah has been given a chunky upgrade compared to his Silver and can play RM, LM, RW and ST which is pretty cool. Plus, he's from Ligue 1 so that opens up even more link options.
