Hello and welcome to my prediction for the Ligue 1 September Player of the Month! Overall the final selection for the nominees for September should be relatively easy, we can for sure expect a PSG player and for the other two there should at least be one from Lorient which is the surprising team in Ligue 1 so far this season. The third spot is a bit of a dice roll but Monaco has a good chance to be featured so go on and take a look who I think will be nominated for the September POTM! I've included an extra two players too to give you a bit more variety of players who could be nominated!
CF: Lionel Messi (Paris SG) - 91 OVR -> 92 OVR:
1 goal & 3 assists / 3 games - 3 wins
It's not a surprise that we will most likely see a Paris SG player in the nominees again and it could very likely be Messi which would be a back to back nomination after he already was nominated for the August POTM along with Neymar and Sotoca. Paris continued their good form in Ligue 1 and finished the month with a perfect win rate in which Messi has been the standout player for his side with one goal and three assists. Neymar won the August POTM award but as he won't be featured in-game a Messi POTM with a position change from RW to CF (or CAM) would surely be a good replacement!
CM: Enzo Le Fée (Lorient FC) - 81 OVR -> 86 OVR:
2 goals & 1 assist / 4 games - 4 wins
I've already talked about surprising third placed side Lorient FC and we've seen in with past nominations that more than one player from a single club can be among the three nominees. The same could happen for September although I doubt it but Lorients midfielder Enzo Le Fée also enjoyed a pretty good month with 2 goals and an assist and also picked up an inform in TOTW1. Maybe not the most appealing card but it shouldn't be expensive.
CB: Kevin Danso (RC Lens) - 75 OVR -> 84 OVR:
1 goal & 1 clean sheet / 3 games - 1 win - 2 draws
Lens enjoyed a good 2021/22 campaign and managed to keep up their good form from last year, currently sitting 4th in the standings which is impressive after they've lost Clauss and Doucouré. Someone who seems to be reliable in 2022/23 is former Augsburg and Southampton centre-back Kevin Danso. The Austrian defender scored the only goal in Lens' 1-0 victory against Troyes, helped his side keep the clean sheet away at Nantes and also helped to secure a point with a man down against Reims. I honestly haven't looked at his gold card before but my god, that would be a very decent card to use!
LWB: Caio Henrique (AS Monaco) - 78 OVR -> 84 OVR:
3 assists & 2 clean sheets / 3 games - 3 wins
The next nominee was a bit of a 50/50 situation for me. I usually wanted to include someone from Marseille but there wasn't any real standout candidate and then I noticed Monaco also went unbeaten in their games plus they managed to keep clean sheets in two of the games. That led me to including wing-back Caio Henrique who assisted three times in these games and the fact that he helped Monaco to keep the clean sheets against opponents like Nice and Lyon was enough for me to give him the shout.
LW: Dango Quattara (Lorient FC) - 63 OVR -> 79 OVR:
4 goals & 2 assists / 4 games - 4 wins
Another side who went unbeaten in September is Lorient who is currently sitting third in the Ligue 1 standings. After escaping relegation last season they now seem to try to collect the points as early as possible and there are two potential candidates for POTM and one of them is Dango Quattara who scored four goals and assisted another two in their four wins which is actually the best for any player in September. he would be the most deserved nominee but I'm not sure about him as he's a bronze player and would surely get a really big upgrade!
Disclaimer: EA released a Pitch Notes Article yesterday where they mentioned they'll look to increase the size of the potential OVR increase select Player of the Month Items are able to receive. The Updates you see here are based on the old upgrade system so they could be different!
