It's here! Let's get into FUT.GG's official predictions for the 2023 Women's Team of the Year in FC 24.
It’s important to remember that whilst TOTY players are decided by fan vote, and EA do have the final say, so the predictions below may be more of a reflection of what I expect to happen, rather than who was the “best” or “most deserving”. We also may see the first players with multiple PlayStyle+’s, which would be very exciting. We don’t know if we’ll have TOTY Honourable Mentions (or how many), but I’ve listed one per position as well.
Women's TOTY Starting XI
GK: Mary Earps (Manchester United) - 86 OVR -> 95 OVR
Eaps had a great year for both club and country, widely regarded as the best GoalKeeper at the Women’s World Cup. She should get a lot of votes from England fans and United fans around the world.
RB: Ellie Carpenter (Lyon) - 83 OVR -> 93 OVR
Having had a strong year for both Lyon and Australia, Carpenter will be a popular pick. She would also offer potential chemistry links to players like Diani, Horan, and Kerr.
Added PlayStyle(s): Block+ & Whipped Pass+
CB: Amanda Ilestedt (Arsenal) - 84 OVR -> 95 OVR
Ilestedt was picked by many as the best defender at the Women’s World Cup - finishing third in the Golden Ball race while leading Sweden to the final. She’ll also receive lots of votes from Arsenal fans.
Added PlayStyle: Aerial+
CB: Millie Bright (Chelsea) - 85 OVR -> 96 OVR
Bright was a star defender for both Chelsea and England in 2023, helping lead Chelsea to the BWSL title and England to a Women’s World Cup final. She’ll surely be a popular choice for Chelsea fans wanting one of their own in TOTY.
Added PlayStyle: Anticipate+
LB: Fridolina Rolfö (Barcelona) - 87 OVR -> 96 OVR
Rolfö is an absolute fan favorite in Ultimate Team, and is absolutely deserving of a TOTY based on performances on the pitch. She was a key player for Barcelona and Sweden before suffering an injury and missing the start of the 23-24 season.
Added PlayStyle: Technical+
CDM: Lena Oberdorf (Wolfsburg) - 87 OVR -> 96 OVR
Oberdorf has proven to be one of the best young players in the women’s game, starring for Wolfsburg as they reached the UWCL final. She’ll be a desirable pick following up on her Ultimate Dynasties player item.
Added PlayStyle: Intercept+
CM: Patri Guijarro (Barcelona) - 88 OVR -> 95 OVR
Patri was one of the stars of Barcelona's treble, although she was not at the Women's World Cup. Her reliable passing and solid defending made her a critical piece of one of the best club and country years a player can have.
Added PlayStyle: Incisive Pass+
CM: Aitana Bonmatí (Barcelona) - 90 OVR -> 98 OVR
Aitana was undoubtedly the best women’s player in the world in 2023, and is also extremely popular with Ultimate Team players. She won everything Patri did, in addition to the Women's World Cup and the women's Ballon d'Or. She will likely have an incredible card, and her Barcelona and Spain chemistry links will mean she’s a target in every player’s team.
Added PlayStyle: Tiki Taka+
RW: Kadidiatou Diani (Lyon) - 89 OVR -> 96 OVR
Diani was the top scorer in the French Women’s league in the 22-23 season, and was also a star in the UWCL. This season, she leads the league in assists for Lyon. She’s also extremely popular with Ultimate Team players, meaning she’ll get lots of votes.
Added PlayStyle: Quick Step+ & Rapid+
ST: Sam Kerr (Chelsea) 90 OVR -> 97 OVR
Kerr has had some great moments for Chelsea this year, although she did miss most of the Women’s World Cup. As one of this year’s cover stars, it’s hard to see her not being in TOTY in some capacity.
Added PlayStyle: Finesse Shot+
ST: Alexandra Popp (Wolfsburg) - 88 OVR -> 95 OVR
Popp was the top scorer in the German women’s league and also bagged for Germany at the Women’s World Cup. As the highest rated player in her league, she’s sure to draw the interest of voters.
Added PlayStyle: Aerial+
12th: Sophia Smith (Portland Thorns) - 88 OVR -> 95 OVR
Smith led the NWSL in goals in the 2023 season, and also scored in the Women’s World Cup. Most importantly, she’s an extremely meta and popular player in Ultimate Team, and sure to be a vote for NWSL and Ultimate Team fans alike.
Added PlayStyle: Technical+
TOTY Honorable Mentions, SBCs, and Objectives:
CB: Irene Paredes (Barcelona) - 88 OVR -> 95 OVR
Paredes was a steady rock at the back for Barcelona, and was also a key player for Spain in their Women’s World Cup win. Although she may be less “meta” than her teammate Mapi León, she may get more votes as León did not participate in the Women’s World Cup.
Added PlayStyle: Bruiser+
LB: Olga Carmona (Real Madrid) - 79 OVR -> 92 OVR
Carmona was one of the stars of Spain’s Women’s World Cup win, including scoring the winner in the final. She’ll be a very popular pick for Real Madrid fans as well as those who enjoyed her Centurions item. She may come as an SBC or objective.
Added PlayStyle: Power Shot+ & Block+
RM: Kerolin Nicoli (NC Courage) - 80 OVR -> 93 OVR
Kerolin was the NWSL MVP, with an impressive 10 goals and 3 assists while also being one of the best dribblers in the league. Some may remember Kerolin's underrated Trailblazers player item from earlier this year.
Added PlayStyle: Technical+ & Trivela+
LW: Salma Paralluelo (Barcelona) - 78 OVR -> 93 OVR
Paralluelo burst onto the scene as one of the best young players in the women’s game, finishing as the best young player at the Women’s World Cup and third in the women’s Ballon d’Or. Paralluelo also may come as an SBC or objective.
Added PlayStyle: Rapid+ & Flair+
ST: Rachel Daly (Aston Villa) - 85 OVR -> 92 OVR
Daly was the top scorer in the BWSL last season and also scored a goal at the Women’s World Cup. Could she possibly have a link to Emi Martínez?
Added PlayStyle: Aerial+ & Power Header+
