FUT Champions was designed to be the most competitive game mode withing EA Sports FC, with FC 25 around the corner EA have just announced a slew of changes in the latest Pitch Notes.
From updated rewards and ranking systems, let's take a look at 5 big changes coming to FUT Champions in FC 25:
1. Less games in Play-Offs and Finals
In FC 24 you needed to play 10 Games of Champs Play-Offs and 20 Games of Champs Finals for the full FUT Champions Experience.
With the updated format, the number games has been reduced for both modes.
Champions Play-Offs: Reduced to 5 Games, you need 3 wins to qualify for Champs Finals.
Champions Finals: Reduced to 15 Games, no more need to play all 15 games to get rewards.
2. New Reward Ranks
Going back to a more classic system for designing your rewards ranks in FC 25, each WIN in Champions Finals will give you 1 Point. Losses will give you 0 Points.
This means your rank will be decided purely based on the number of games you win, no need to play all games to get points from losses.
Here is the breakdown of the FC 25 FUT Champions Finals Ranks:

3. Improved Rewards
While making the FUT Champions Game Mode more competitive, EA have made sure that achieving a high rank will make you feel rewarded for your effort to reach those ranks.
Not only will Champions Rewards be different from Rivals Rewards, top finishes will get even better rewards than in FC 24.
Here is the reward for Achieving Rank 1 in Season 1 FUT Champions Finals:
- 200,000 Ultimate Team Coins
- Tradeable 85+ x10 Players Pack
- Tradeable 84+ x10 Players Pack
- Untradable Base Icon Pack
- Untradable 89+ x2 Players Pack
- Untradable 82+ x30 Players Pack
- Three Tradeable TOTW x3 Players Pack
Additionally, players who achieve top ranks will receive unique customizations to show off their excellence in game such as:
- Unique Club Nickname "Invincibles" exclusive to Rank 1
- Custom Celebration "Flex" exclusive for Rank 1-3
The "Flex" Celebration in FC 25
4. Champions Play-Offs Changes
In FC 24, a lot of players saw Champions Play-Offs as a low stakes mode to test out tactics and teams and take advantage of the Win Form Matchmaking of the game mode.
To keep FUT Champions a competitive game mode, EA have changed Live FUT Friendlies to have the same Win Form Matchmaking instead of the old Division Rivals Skill Based Matchmaking, allowing players to test players and tactics out there.
It will be harder to qualify for Champions Finals as you need to win 3 games out of 5 which will reflect the competitiveness of Champions Finals.
To offset that, you can enter Champions Play-Offs an additional 10 Times each season. This means that in total you should be able to compete in Champions Play-Offs a total of 18 Times every season, so if you fail to qualify once, you can try again.
It is worth mentioning that each time, you will need to earn Qualification Points by playing Division Rivals.
5. No more 0-0 Quits
One of the most frustrating experiences while playing FUT Champions was having to enter a game only for your opponent to quit at 0-0.
With the new changes implemented, it should give players more incentive to not quit the game as you enter, mainly due to these two reasons:
- Unlike FC 24, players don't need to lose games in order to get their right win based rank
- From Rank 3 to Rank 8, each rank is separated by 1 Win/1Point. This means that an unnecessary loss can lead to a lower rank
While not foolproof, it will heavily deter players from entering a game with the intent to quit, making for a more competitive environment that encourages players to play the game out.
This is in line with the changes in Division Rivals, where a Draw will still give you 1 point towards your progress. You can check out other changes coming to Ultimate Team here.
With all the changes coming to FUT Champions, it looks like it will become the most hardcore mode inside FUT, with rewards that reflect the effort taken to get the wins needed.
