Finally, we have a Showdown SBC in FIFA 23. This is great to see for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the card can receive upgrades, and secondly, it's based on real-life matches. It's always amazing when something in-game can be linked and related to real-life events. So as it's focusing on the Senegal vs Netherlands match, the players selected are Abdou Diallo and Davy Klaassen.
How Do Showdown Cards Get Upgrades?
In this case, both SBCs are available to complete for 48 hours and can receive upgrades based on the result of Senegal vs Netherlands match in the World Cup. If the match ends in a draw (tie), then both players will receive a +1 upgrade. However, if a team wins, the player from the winning team will receive a +2 upgrade, and the losing player doesn't receive anyone.
Is it worth completing the Showdown Diallo SBC in FIFA 23?
I'm thrilled to see EA has selected a Showdown SBC that features a Nation requiring more players to help build chemistry. It's honestly made even better because it's a player from the Bundesliga so the Mane link is incredible and offers some hybrid options.
If we dive into the card, we can see EA improved the workrates to High Defensive and Medium Attacking, along with a decent boost across the board. Diallo has received the following: +6 pace, +8 shooting, +7 passing, +6 dribbling, +8 defending, and +8 physicality.
In regards to interesting squad-building potential, Diallo can also play LB which can open things up a bit. The 3-star weak foot and skill move combo is solid for a CB and this is an incredibly well-rounded option for your team.
How Much Does Showdown Diallo Cost?
The positives continue as this SBC is very reasonably priced, coming in at 31,900 coins and only requiring one segment. You can find all the requirements below.
- Min. 1 player with minimum OVR of 86
- Min. 1 Players: Team of the Week
- Min. Team Rating: 84
Should you complete the Showdown Diallo SBC?
I can get straight to the point on this one. Complete or Yeet? Complete the Diallo Showdown SBC. The only downside I can truly see with this card is that it is less likely to receive the +2 upgrade. However, with how good Diallo will already be in-game with some really well-rounded stats, including the ability to carry and pass the ball, with surprisingly good links across the board, this one should be a no-brainer.
Is it worth completing the Showdown Klassen SBC?
Moving onto the second player featured in the Showdown SBC, it's Klaassen from Ajax. Initially, the excitement was a bit lower for this side of things, but after some reflection, will things change? We can get the linkability out of the way, to begin with, there is an absolute abundance of ways to build chemistry on Klassen and for your team. There are Ajax players, there are Dutch players from the Eredivisie, and then Dutch players in general across the top 5 leagues. It should be super easy.
When it comes to stats and attributes, the first notable thing is that he has received a Weak Foot upgrade which is now 4 stars along with the 3-star skill moves. He also comes with the Outside Foot Shot and Dives Into Tackles Trait, with makes him very interesting as a more attacking box-to-box option. It's worth noting, in squad building he can only play CM or CAM so there's not much flexibility there.
Although the boost across the board looks to be pretty standard, there are more notable boosts like +12 acceleration and +12 balance which will help a great deal with making him more usable.
How Much Does Showdown Klassen Cost?
It's honestly quite surprising to see that Klassen is cheaper than Diallo, as normally EA will do pricing for Showdowns based on who is more likely to win the game, and in this case, Netherlands would be deemed the favourites. With that said, Klassen is the player out of the two that needs the boost the most, so maybe EA are aware of that and priced based on that element as it's coming in at 21,300 coins.
You can find the full requirements below:
- Min. 1 Players from: Netherlands
- Min. 2 player with minimum OVR of 84
- Min. 1 Players: Team of the Week
- Min. Team Rating: 83
Should you complete the Showdown Klassen SBC?
It's fair to say that EA hit the nail on the head here with pricing. Complete or Yeet? Complete. If this pricing was any higher, then it would be one to completely avoid. However, with how cheap and easy it is to complete, if you have fodder kicking around in your club, it could be worth picking him up to have as an option for an Eredivisie or Dutch team, especially when Icon Swaps inevitably rolls around.
It's worth keeping in mind that Netherlands are the favourites, so there's a higher chance you will be paying 21k to get a card that will be 87-rated.
Will you be completing either of these Showdown SBCs and if so, why? Let us know!
