The 2022/23 season is heading towards its conclusion across the world’s major leagues, with plenty of points, trophies, league titles, and accolades all to be decided in the coming weeks and months. With the imminent ending of the season on the horizon, it’s time for the annual Team of the Season event to come to FIFA 23.
Before we see all the stars from the major and minor leagues line up in their respective leagues’ Team of the Season squads, let’s take a moment to celebrate this season’s most consistent performers with the Community Team of the Season.
What is the Community Team of the Season?
The Community Team of the Season is the annual curtain-raiser for FIFA’s Team of the Season event and celebrates the most consistent and reliable performers over the course of the season who have not received more than 1 performance-based Special Item (TOTW, MOTM) their performances merited.
It is voted for by the FUT community and the players who make the final team will be determined by a combination of those votes and EA themselves.
When is the Community TOTS Released?
The nominees for the Community TOTS were revealed on April 10th 2023, with the vote commencing at the same time. However, EA did not reveal the date for when the Community TOTS is going to be released. However, based on the release dates in previous years, we can say that the Community TOTS is likely to be released on April 28th, but that is just a prediction right now.
Who are the Nominees for the Community TOTS?
Only players who have performed well across the season and not received more than one performance-based Special Item, such as TOTW or MOTM Items, in FIFA 23 as of April 3rd, are eligible to be a nominee for the Community TOTS.
On that basis, EA has released a list of 100 players they feel deserve to be in contention for a place in the community-voted Community TOTS squad. If you don't see a particular player on the list of nominees, it doesn't necessarily mean they won't get a TOTS Item - they could very well end up being in their respective league TOTS squad.
The 100 nominees have been split into 4 groups; Attackers, Midfielders, Defenders, and Goalkeepers.
Attackers
Midfielders
Defenders
Goalkeepers
Where can I Vote for the Community TOTS?
You can vote for the FIFA 23 Community TOTS on EA’s Community TOTS voting page. Voting ends on April 13th, 10 AM PDT.
Community TOTS Prediction
While it’s challenging to whittle down 100 nominees into a team of just 11 players, we’ve picked out a few of the favourites and most deserving players who we feel are likely to secure a place in the Community TOTS.
David De Gea – Manchester United
The popular vote will likely see David De Gea take his place in goal for the Community TOTS, however, Yann Sommer, who has had an impressive season for Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich is more than deserving of a place too.
James Tavernier – Rangers
James Tavernier is a right-back who forgets he’s a right-back, with goal contributions flowing out of his right foot for Rangers yet again this season.
Kim Min-jae – Napoli
The headlines may have been dominated by Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Korean CB Kim Min-jae also deserves plaudits for his performances for Napoli this season, performances that should see him make it into the team.
Nicolás Otamendi – Benfica
A stalwart in defence for Benfica and World Cup winners Argentina, Nicolás Otamendi stands a good chance of making it into the final team.
Nathan Aké - Manchester City
While Erling Haaland has been rewriting goal-scoring records up front for Manchester City, it’s the recognition of the consistent performances of players like Nathan Aké, who has done well playing as a centre-back and as a left-back, which the Community TOTS is all about.
Khéphren Thuram – Nice
A domineering and powerful midfielder, Khéphren Thuram has caught the eye of the biggest European clubs with his performances for Nice this season, putting him in contention for a spot in the team.
Joelinton – Newcastle United
Joelinton has reinvented himself as a combative centre-midfielder and has been an integral part of Newcastle United’s push for European football next season and fully deserves a place in the team.
Kingsley Coman – Bayern Munich
Another year, another league title for Kingsley Coman? Maybe, but what is for sure is he’s played his part this season, and the popular vote may well guarantee him a place in the Community TOTS.
Dušan Tadic – Ajax
Creator-in-chief for Ajax once again this season, Dušan Tadić has consistently shown his creative qualities throughout the season, and will likely be in with a shout of making the team.
Gabriel Jesus – Arsenal
There weren’t many people who thought that Arsenal would be gunning for the Premier League title this season, but the acquisition of Gabriel Jesus from title rivals Manchester City completely transformed their attack. Even when he wasn’t scoring, his offensive and defensive contributions have been vital for their title push this season.
Gonçalo Ramos – Benfica
Gonçalo Ramos’ goals have not only put Benfica at the top of the Liga Portugal table, but they’ve also fired Benfica into the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League, and would fully deserve his place in attack for the Community TOTS.
