Road to the World Cup Karl Toko Ekambi
To celebrate Cameroon’s qualification for the World Cup in Qatar, a Road to the World Cup Toko Ekambi Objective has been released. It’s a relatively simple group of objectives to complete, so it won’t take you very long to unlock him, but the question is whether the time and effort are really worth it when this type of Item may not make many people’s teams at this stage of the game.
To make the case for Toko Ekambi, it isn’t a bad Item at all, especially when you compare him to the likes of TOTW Sadio Mané, and getting an Item like this for free isn’t a bad deal at all.
In terms of links, things are a tad difficult. You’ve got the obvious link with Samuel Eto’o (if you’re lucky or rich enough to have any of his ICON versions), but you also have Zambo Anguissa’s RTTK Item and, if you were able to do it, the Path to Glory Choup-Moting, which was also available as a Squad Battles or Rivals Objective, links with him too, but if you’re not running a full Ligue 1 team, it may prove difficult to fit him in on full Chemistry.

Does the Road to the World Cup Karl Toko Ekambi upgrade?
Although the 'Road to the...' pre-fix usually suggests that the Items upgrade, these Road to the World Cup Items do not upgrade. They are to commemorate the players and triumphs behind the journeys from qualification to the World Cup, so they are not related to their nation's progression through the World Cup Finals.
Is the Road to the World Cup Karl Toko Ekambi Objective worth doing?
At this stage of the game, when we are getting World Cup FUT Heroes and Path to Glory Items, this Toko Ekambi may not make it into your squad, but I feel like as a general rule, these relatively easy Squad Battles or Rivals Objective players are definitely worthwhile completing, especially if the player is from the League your Squad is based on. Even if you don’t have plans to include him in your Squad, an 86-rated Item could be useful for fodder for future SBCs.
If you don’t have the time to complete the Objective this week, the POTM Terrier SBC is still available and only costs about 20,000 coins, and they have very similar stats so there’s no need to panic about missing out on Toko Ekambi.
