It's nice to see EA continuing the Icon Player SBCs as it's been 10 days since both Essien and Trezeguet were released. Unfortunately, it's only one this time, but it is a very affordable Lampard that could be a good addition to some teams. We'll be breaking down everything about this, and will answer the question of should you complete the Lampard Icon SBC.
Base Icon Lampard SBC
Lampard has always been one of those Icons in FIFA that isn't really sought after, and if you were to pack him from a guaranteed Icon SBC, you would likely be a bit disappointed. There is an interesting dynamic that exists when reviewing SBCs like this in FIFA 23 as both next-generation gameplay featuring the new AcceleRATE system and the old-generation gameplay must be taken into consideration. From a first look, Lampard is definitely less desirable for those on old-gen but will certainly be useful for those on next-gen.
Lampard has 3-star skills and a 4-star weak foot, which for a central midfielder, isn't necessarily ideal (of course we want everyone to be as close to 5* 5* as possible), but right now in FIFA 23, as long as you have a 3* 4* combo as a minimum for the midfield, then you're in a good spot, so Lampard does meet this. He has high attacking and medium defensive work rates so there's potential to use him as a secondary CDM or have him as a roaming CM in the right system.
Lampard was 140,000 coins on the market before the SBC was released, and has dropped slightly to 130k since it was released. So how well has EA priced this SBC?
How much does the Lampard Icon SBC cost?
As mentioned, the Frank Lampard Icon SBC looks incredibly affordable and only consists of 5 segments. The early pricing for the SBC is coming in around 120k, so EA has managed to undercut the price on the market which is always the first step for making the SBC more appealing. Below you can find the full breakdown of the requirements:
Born Legend
- Exactly 11 Players: Rare
- Exactly Bronze Players
In return, you will receive a Two Rare Gold Players Pack.
Rising Star
- Exactly 11 Players: Rare
- Exactly Silver Players
In return, you will receive a Two Rare Gold Players Pack.
The Blues
- Min. 1 Players from: Chelsea
- Min. Team Rating: 83
In return, you will receive a Gold Pack.

Is it worth completing the Lampard SBC?
As with every Icon SBC, let's kick things off with the reminder that regardless of whether you plan to complete the full SBC or not, please make sure you always complete the Born Legend and Rising Star segments. The reason for this is that you are clearing out some bronze and silver players to get Four tradable rare golds in total, and there's always that chance of packing something amazing.
EA has done a great job for the pricing of this Lampard SBC, and it's definitely something that you can craft towards over the next month with duplicate untradables that you need to get rid of, but is it worth focusing on?
Complete or Yeet? Yeet. To be honest, it was close but if you're on old-generation there's no reason to complete this SBC at all except for the far that he's affordable. Although he will fit the next-generation gameplay a bit better and can become Lengthy with an Architect, it's still a bit lackluster compared to the options on the market that can be bought for considerably less. There is always the benefit that he gets full chemistry, but with how easy it is to squad build this year, that is no longer a selling point. Overall, if you grind the game like crazy and can craft him with leftovers then it makes sense, but everyone else should avoid and focus their time, energy, and coins elsewhere.
