Saturday is usually fairly light when it comes to content. However, potentially due the to the "magic" of an Oil State's play thing playing an American billionaire's afterthought, we have been gifted some interesting SBCs to contemplate.
A 90+ Prime, TOTY, FUT Birthday or Trophy Titan Player Pick SBC was definitely the next evolution of the Icon lucky dips. Having had an 88+ Prime, Mid or WC Icon player pick, 2 90+ Prime, TOTY or FUT Birthday Upgrades and then 2 more but with Trophy Titans added, and with the price of all 5 getting inexorably smaller. It was time for EA to crank up the stakes and turn the 90+ into a player pick.
The cost to complete the Player Pick from scratch is 400.8K, bearing in mind the most recent 90+ icon upgrade cost 180k, it certainly seems that beggars must pay to become choosers.
86, 87 and 89 rated squads are required, with the latter requiring a TOTS or TOTS Moments. There are some unusually decent packs back by way of a Small Prime Gold Players pack and a Small Rare Gold Players pack, however this is still a very costly SBC to undertake.
We are in silly season. But the silliness is yet to hit the point where an 89 rated squad can be completed without some sacrifice. However you do have 7 days to grind up towards it. For me this is an SBC for those who fancy a gamble. I really think we are beyond Prime Icons at this point in the game.
There are 144 players in the pool of which 36 cost more than the SBC. The odd's are tough. A mix of Primes and Trophy Titans seem to be the most likely selection you'll be offered. TOTY and FUT Birthday Icons contain a much higher proportion of the wins.
However, as seen in the example above, the majority of picks you get will be downright garbage. At this point in the game 92+ would be a fairer reflection of the price being asked for.
Should You Complete? Not for me — Whilst up until this point, I've been fairly laissez faire with the lucky dip SBC's this one is a much higher commitment and I don't trust that value is matched in the return.
