We have a new promotion in FIFA 23, and it will only be here for a week. Out of Position arrived this evening and it brings some unique options to help with squad building in FIFA 23. We'll cover everything you need to know about the promo, as well as covering the new SBC and Objective players that have been released.
EA has kept it simple this time around with the promo name, as it does what it says on the tin. Out of Position in FIFA 23 is all about creating unique cards that are out of position from where they would normally play. For example, a RB who had just the RWB alternative position might now be a LW who has CF and CAM as their alternative positions, and their boost is tailored towards making them usable for that position. Some of the changes will be quite straightforward forward like seeing a RW become a ST, but there are definitely some interesting features in this Out of Position team.
Honestly, the Alternative Positions might actually be even more important that the position they play on the face card as that's where true creativity in squad building can be found. You can see all the Out of Position players in packs on FIFA 23 below. Please keep in mind, more players will be added on Sunday as part of the mini-release.
Who is the best FIFA 23 Out of Position Player?
There are some amazing players featured in the Out of Position team in FIFA 23, but who is the best? Despite the vast difference in price between Out of Position Salah at 2 million coins and Out of Position Cancelo at 1 million coins, in regards to who is the best player, it's actually pretty close. Salah being moved to a ST is a little boring in the grand scheme of things, but he can now also play LW and CF, whereas before he was fixed to playing on the right side. Unfortunately, however, Salah hasn't been given any skills or weak-foot upgrades and his work rates have remained the same. The boost is minor with +2s and +3s across the board. While he is sought after for being the most expensive in the promo, I don't think he's the best. Please note, paying over 2 million coins for a player with a 3-star weak foot is a little absurd.
With that said, Cancelo is the best FIFA 23 Out of Position player and that's because of what he can offer overall. His Gold card is n LB that can play RB and LWB, but Out of Position Cancelo is a CM that can play CDM or RWB. Cancelo has received a slightly bigger boost than Salah, to try and maximize his ability and value in the middle of the pitch. Essentially, an easy-to-link 4* 4* player that has amazingly well-rounded stats and high-high workrates, that can be used to build chemistry in multiple different ways for different playstyles, this is what makes Cancelo the best FIFA 23 Out of Position player.
Who is the best value FIFA 23 Out of Position Player?
At the time of writing, Out of Position players haven't even been in FIFA 23 for 30 minutes, so the prices will continue to fluctuate heavily, but we can already get an idea of who the best value Out of Positon player is in FIFA 23. One of my favorite things about each promo in FIFA isn't necessarily the best and most expensive players, it's actually those players in the middle that can be undervalued but amazing additions to teams. This time around, there are a few options with the likes of Dumfries, Perisic, and Suso.
However, the best value FIFA 23 Out of Position Player is without a doubt Isaak Touré as he looks to be an absolutely insane ST option, and he's only 83 rated coming in at roughly 40,000 coins. This is a perfect example of the sort of player changes we should see with a promotion like this. Isaak Touré was a 67-rated CB, and has now become a ST with +19 pace, +53 shooting, +30 passing, +32 dribbling, and +4 physical all while losing 15 defending. Shockingly, he is 6'8" and is Lengthy without chemistry and only three can change him to Controlled.
For the meta on next-generation, despite the 3* 4* combo, he is an amazing ST option and has the potential to be one of the best value for coin players we see through the entire of FIFA 23. Even for those on old-gen, while he won't pack quite as much of a punch, he should still be a great ST option for your team.
Will Out of Position Players go up in price?
The FIFA 23 transfer market is in a very tricky position right now to predict this accurately. Many are expecting to see a market crash as people begin to panic sell before Black Friday, but it seems like we could still be a week or two away from that. In regards to how the pricing will fall for these new Out of Position players, it seems like they will follow the usual trend of promotions in FIFA.
People will be opening saved packs, spending FIFA Points, and grinding FUT Champs for rewards in hopes of packing these new Out of Positons in FIFA 23. This causes the prices to continually fall after their release on Friday evening all the way through to Monday. That period between Monday - Thursday normally has some fluctuation, and then in most cases, promo cards will rise slightly once they go out of packs. So ultimately, they will continually drop in the first few days until they reach the price they settle at, and then there can be small rises. Please note, the larger rises tend to happen in the more in-demand players, in this case, Salah, Cancelo, and Theo Hernandez.
Out of Position Chiesa SBC in FIFA 23
In typical fashion, EA has released a new SBC player to pair with the new promotion and this brings us to Out of Position Chiesa. He has been changed from a LW that only had LM as an alternate position, to now being a RW that can also play centrally as a CAM and also RM. In general, there had been a slight lack of affordable and usable RW/RM options in FIFA 23, so overall it seems like this was a very fitting SBC. We take a full in-depth look and answer should you complete the Out of Position Chiesa SBC?
Out of Position Hudson-Odoi Objective Player in FIFA 23
This was a very surprising inclusion to see because just days ago EA released a Bundesliga LWB SBC in the form of Raum, and now they're offering another LWB Bundesliga option through Objectives with Out of Position Hudson-Odoi. It would have been much more sense for this to be a different position, as doubling up on options for the same position within a matter of days, doesn't really do much to help things in regards to squad building. This is actually a mistake EA has fallen into the trap of repeatedly making each year in FIFA.
They will oversaturate options for a certain position and then neglect others. The only saving grace this time is that Hudson-Odoi is an objective player and therefore "free" outside of time. So is Out of Position Hudson-Odoi worth completing? We have a full dedicated piece covering all the objectives, answering that question, and more.
Let us know if you will be completing the new Out of Position Objective and SBC players.
