15 brand new FUT Heroes will be added to FUT in FIFA23, EA have announced.
Their base versions will be available from launch, along with the FUT Heroes being carried over from FIFA22 to FIFA23. EA have also confirmed there will World Cup themed Hero items.
New FIFA World Cup FUT Heroes
In an exciting twist, 21 FUT Heroes will have World Cup FUT Heroes items, and this will include all new FUT Heroes. Taking a look at the graphic below (by MarcelDesigns), you might think the illustrations are just a fun part of their marketing campaign, but there is much more to it.
For the first time in the 14 year history of FUT these illustrations will replace the images of the players on the items themselves. This groundbreaking approach to FIFA World Cup FUT Heroes is in collaboration with Marvel, who are naturally quite partial to hero related content (even if they forgot the super). EA have confirmed that these FIFA World Cup FUT Heroes will be higher rated compared to their base items.
Free FIFA World Cup FUT Heroes
You’ll have to stump up £89.99 ($99.99) for a version of the game, which grants a random FIFA World Cup FUT Hero. So that Hero isn’t really free. However, some people do apply the slightly backward logic that if you would have bought the FIFA23 Ultimate Edition anyway, then you could (pretend) you’ve snagged yourself a Hero for free.
It should be noted that to take advantage of this ‘Free’ FIFA World Cup FUT Hero you’ll need to pre-order FIFA23 Ultimate Edition by August 22nd. The FIFA World Cup FUT Hero item will be delivered to those who own the Ultimate Edition on or after 11th November.

Hero Chemistry in FIFA23
Chemistry has had a huge overhaul in FIFA23 and so the way Hero chemistry works has changed too. Firstly, all Heroes will have full chemistry as long as they are in the correct position. Furthermore, now position based links have been retired, Heroes provide a bonus for you whole squad. Each Hero adds 2 players’ worth of chemistry to their league and 1 player’s worth to their nation. Interestingly, this makes them more useful than Icons for chemistry.
