Manchester City made history on Saturday night, not only did they win their first-ever Champions League title, they secured their place in the record books by becoming only the 2nd English Men’s football club to win the fabled Treble, a feat matched only by city rivals Manchester United in 1999. Key to their success on the night, as with a lot of cases this season, was the performance of their midfield rock, Rodri.
To celebrate the performance, Rodri has been awarded a UCL MOTM Item which has been released as an SBC. But is the Item any good, and is the SBC worth completing?
Thankfully, EA has recognised that an SBC Item for a player who just won his club their first Champions League is worthy of useability, with the UCL MOTM Rodri receiving a +27 upgrade to his Pace over his TOTW Item, as well as giving him 4-star Skill Moves and a 5-star Weak Foot, up from 3-star and 4-star respectively. There’s more to like about the Item, such as:
- 95 Long Shots and Shot Power, which seems only right given some of the goals he’s scored this season
- 94 Vision, 97 Short Passing and 94 Long Passing give him supreme passing ability
- 91 Interceptions, 92 Defensive Awareness and 94 Standing Tackle will make him a fantastic defensive-minded midfielder
- 94 Strength, 91 Aggression, and a height of 6’3” will give him a real presence in the midfield too
It’s good news in terms of price too, with the cost of the SBC coming in at around 100,000 coins, which seems like a great price for a midfielder like this, especially with so many outstanding players to link him with.
Which Chemistry Style should you use on UCL MOTM Rodri?
If you want to use Rodri as a box-to-box style midfielder, I’d suggest using a Basic or Engine Chemistry Style. But if you want him to be your defensive midfielder, I’d suggest Anchor or Shadow.
If you want him to be Lengthy, you can use any Chemistry Style apart from Artist, Engine, and Finisher.
UCL MOTM Rodri SBC: Complete or Yeet?
For the price of around 100,000 coins, this SBC is very good value for money, especially for a unique Item with the insane Pace boost, the Weak Foot and Skill Move upgrades, and links, so I’d definitely complete the SBC if you want him. For comparison, he's only a little bit below End of Era Busquets in terms of stats for under half the price, albeit with them being slightly different players in FUT.
The only disappointment is that the dynamic image isn’t one of him holding the trophy, but maybe that could come at a later date…
