Fresh from signing a new deal, and with an impressive haul of 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games, AC Milan forward Rafael Leão has won his 2nd POTM award of the season.
On the face of it, this SBC, which costs around 75,000 coins to complete, looks like great value for an Item that has 96 Pace, 86 Shooting and 92 Dribbling.
I’d personally recommend playing POTM Rafael Leão as a striker as opposed to a winger, let me explain why:
- Rafael Leão is 6’2” and has a High and Average Body Type, which could make him feel heavy and clunky out wide. He has the right characteristics for being a pacy target man as opposed to a winger.
- 95 Acceleration and 97 Sprint Speed from the get-go means you don’t have to use a Chemistry Style to make him quick, although he won’t be able to benefit from being Lengthy as he’ll have a Controlled archetype no matter what Chemistry Style you give him.
- His 79 Long Shots, compared to his 91 Positioning and 88 Finishing also suggest to me that he should be closer to the goal rather than out on the wings taking long shots.
POTM Rafael Leão also stacks up well against his own 91-rated World Cup Phenoms Item, which is around 300,000 coins more expensive. In fact, despite this POTM Item being 1 rating lower, it has +1 better Shooting and Passing. The downside, though, is -1 Dribbling and not having the 5-star Skill Moves the World Cup Phenoms version possesses. Still, a 300,000-coin saving is worth it in those terms, however, I’m sure the scarcity of the Phenoms Item is why it costs a lot more.
On the other side of the coin, Rafael Leão also has an 89-rated UCL MOTM Item which is purchasable from the market for less than half the price of the SBC and is only marginally worse in comparison, but I still feel like the upgrade to this POTM version is worth it if you like Rafael Leão.
Which Chemistry Style should you use on POTM Rafael Leão?
POTM Rafael Leão will have Controlled as his AcceleRATE archetype no matter what Chemistry Style you give him, but I’d recommend giving him a Finisher, especially if you want to use him up front, which is where I’d recommend using him. If you plan on using him as a winger, an Engine might be better suited.
Serie A POTM Rafael Leão: Complete or Yeet?
When you consider that this POTM Rafael Leão has better +1 Shooting and +1 Passing compared to his World Cup Phenoms Item, albeit without the 5-star Skill Moves, and is able to be completed for 75,000 coins compared to the 375,000 coins to buy the Phenoms version on the market, this SBC is a great deal. Yes, his UCL MOTM Item is half the cost of the SBC and is nearly as good, but I feel like that slight difference is enough to warrant upgrading to this POTM Item if you’re using that MOTM Item, or want a new Serie A left-winger.
So, I’d personally say that you should complete this SBC, but I can understand why people would say it’s not worth it, especially with an almost certain TOTS Rafael Leão on the horizon.
