Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) have been a popular mainstay in FIFA Ultimate Team ever since they were first introduced in FIFA 17, granting those who completed them a variety of rewards such as promo Cards and packs in return for submitting a Squad of Players which needed to fulfill certain requirements.
As SBCs mimicked the Chemistry System that was already established in previous iterations of the game, people were already familiar with the general mechanics of how to complete SBCs when they were first released, however, many Ultimate Team fans fear the new Chemistry System coming in FIFA 23 will not only cause them problems when it comes to building their teams but will also make completing SBCs a challenging nightmare.
How Have SBCs Changed?
Most SBC requirements will remain the same in FIFA 23, and they will continue to have minimum, exact, and/or maximum requirements for things such as Overall Team Rating, Card Types, Nationalities, Leagues, and Clubs, for example, but the way in which you fulfill Chemistry requirements has changed due to the new Chemistry System.
To accommodate for the changes, Chemistry requirements are now based on:
- Chemistry Points per Player, between 0 and 3
- Total Chemistry Points of all of the Players combined, up to 33 (3 Chemistry Points x 11 Players)
As an example, an SBC might ask for exactly 3 Chemistry Points per Player, meaning every Player in the Squad will need to have exactly 3 Chemistry Points each.
Alternatively, an SBC might ask for a minimum of 20 Total Chemistry Points, meaning the Chemistry Points of all the Players in the Squad combined will need to add up to at least 20.
There may also be times when an SBC has requirements for both Player Chemistry Points and Total Chemistry Points, and sometimes neither of them.
Out-of-Position Players
Players that are not in their Preferred Position, or in any of their Alternative Positions, will not be able to gain Chemistry Points, meaning they will be on zero Chemistry. They will also not be able to contribute to the Total Chemistry Points of the Squad if they are out of position, which means they will not positively impact the Chemistry Points of the other Players in the Squad.
This may not be a problem if the SBC doesn’t require you to reach a certain amount of Player and/or Total Chemistry Points, but it’s something you will need to take into account when putting together the Squad for the SBC you are attempting to complete.
No More Loyalty
The Loyalty System has been completely removed from FUT, meaning you will no longer have to have packed the Players for them to be able to reach full Chemistry, which consequentially means that players bought from the market will be able to get to full chemistry without the need to play 10 games with them.
