The Web App and Companion App are online extensions that allow users to access their FUT Club without the need to be on a console, providing users with a way to manage different aspects of their Club, such as managing their Squad, completing Squad Building Challenges, and buying and selling Cards on the Transfer Market on the go, or when their console is unavailable.
The Web and Companion Apps are traditionally used as a way to kick-start your journey into a new iteration of FIFA, and have historically been released several days before the global launch of the game, but when exactly will the Web App and Companion Apps be released this year?
When does the FIFA 23 Web App come out?
EA have confirmed that the Web App will be released on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. This keeps the release in line with past years, when the Web App has tended to be released on the same day the first Team of the Week squad of the year is released.
To access the Web App, you will need to visit the Ultimate Team Web App website and log into the EA account that’s linked to your PSN, Xbox, Switch, or Stadia ID accounts.
When does the FIFA 23 Companion App come out?
The Companion App will come out the day after the Web App is released, the Web App releases on Wednesday, September 21, and therefore the Companion App has been confirmed by EA to be released on Thursday, September 22.
To access the Companion App, you will need to head to the relevant App store on your device and search for ‘EA Sports FIFA 23 Companion App’, download the App, then log in with your EA account.
If you already have the Companion App installed, you won't need to download a new App. You will just need to update the App to the new version once it's gone live in the relevant App Store.
What can you do on the Web App and the Companion App?
Although you won’t be able to take part in any sort of gameplay, both Apps will enable you to:
- Open packs in the Store
- Manage your Squad
- Buy and sell players, consumables, and staff on the Transfer Market
- Complete Squad Building Challenges
- Complete non-gameplay-based Objectives
- Claim Squad Battles, Division Rivals, and FUT Champion rewards
- Customise your Stadium
- Personalise your Club (Badge, Kits, Nickname, etc)
- View Leaderboards
- Add FIFA Points (unconfirmed pre-launch)
Neither the Web App nor the Companion App can be used while you are logged into your account on console, so you will need to log out on console to be able to gain access to your Club on whichever App you want to use.
What’s the difference between the Web App and the Companion App?
While both the Web App and Companion share similarities and functions, the Web App is accessible via a web browser, whereas the Companion App is only accessible via mobile and tablet devices.
What steps can I take to get on the Companion and Web App as quickly as possible?
We recommend checking your 2 Factor Authentication method. Typically when the Web App is released the volume of requests for SMS (text message) authentication causes the authentication code messages to be delayed for hours. The best way to avoid delays is to enable 2 Factor Authentication via Authenticator App, as explained in this EA Help Article.
