Hello and welcome to our prediction for Team of the Week 13 which will be released on Wednesday this week!
We are back with the usual Team of the Week prediction after last week and it's not looking completely bad if we take in mind Premier League was off due to cup games. Even though I wouldn't expect a 90+ rated player the team overall looks balanced with potential names like Lautaro Martinez, Enner Valencia or Kasper Schmeichel. Also take in mind that Future Stars promo is coming this week so if there's a contender who fits the criteria of a future star he might miss out and be included in the promo instead! But enough said, go on and check out who could be in TOTW14!
STARTING XI
GK: Kasper Schmeichel (OGC Nice) - 85 OVR -> 87 OVR:
Goalkeepers are way easier to choose this week than previously. OGC Nice and Lille faced each other on the weekend and Lille was the better team overall but lost the game because of Kasper Schmeichel and his heroics. The Danish shot-stopper was unbeatable that day, finishing the game with a total of seven saves and picked up an 8 match rating from L'Equipe.
LB: Grimaldo (SL Benfica) - 82 OVR -> 85 OVR:
There are a lot of transfer rumours around Spanish fullback Grimaldo for a potential summer move but for now he keeps delivering for Benfica. His side recorded another v2-0 victory on Saturday and with Grimaldo scoring one and keeping a clean sheet he might get into the side this week.
CB: Philipp Lienhart (SC Freiburg) - 78 OVR -> 84 OVR:
Freiburg went back on winning ways on the weekend after recording a draw midweek and a heavy 0-6 loss the weekend before, this time scoring three to down Augsburg. Lienhart was one of the outstanding players for Freiburg, scoring one and also made a last man tackle to deny Augsburg.
CB: Rafael Toloi (Bergamo Calcio) - 81 OVR -> 85 OVR:
One of the most fun teams to watch in Serie A at the moment is Atalanta who found their groove and recorded another win, this time they took all three points with a 2-0 win against Sampdoria. Defender Toloi not only was solid defensively, he also managed to assist one of the two goals.
CM: Piotr Zielinski (Napoli FC) - 83 OVR -> 86 OVR:
Napoli and Roma treated viewers with a spectacular second half of football in the Derby del Sole but thanks to Giovanni Simeone, all three points remain in Naples. The inform tho could go to Polish international Zielinski who assisted one of the two goals and helped Napoli to extend their lead to now 13 points.
CAM: Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig) - 82 OVR -> 88 OVR:
RB Leipzig kept the pressure high on top of the Bundesliga table, recording a trashing 6-1 win against relegation-battling Schalke 04 midweek. Dani Olmo was named Player of the Week after he scored one and registered another two assists and could pick up an inform this week.
RM: Jonas Hofmann (M'gladbach) - 86 OVR -> 88 OVR:
Borussia M'gladbach recorded their first away win of the 2022/23 Bundesliga campaign thanks to a 4-1 victory away at Hoffenheim. German international Jonas Hofmann once again proved his worth for the visitors, scoring one and assisting another two.
RM: Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo) - 84 OVR -> 87 OVR:
AC Milan's struggle in the Serie A continued as they lost another game at home, this time it was Sassuolo traveling home with all three points after they recorded a 5-2 win. Domenico Berardi, who has a bit more quiet season so far in terms of scoring, was the standout with 1 goal and three assists and should be in the side this week.
ST: Niclas Füllkrug (Werder Bremen) - 81 OVR -> 85 OVR:
Niclas Füllkrug moved to the top of the Bundesliga goalscoring charts after a double from Werder Bremen's deadly marksman helped to halt Wolfsburg's unbeaten run and finally lift Grün-Weißen spirits and could find himself picking up his second inform this week.
ST: Enner Valencia (Fenerbahce) - 81 OVR -> 85 OVR:
Fenerbahce made it back-to-back-to-back win in the Turkish Süper League, beating Kasimpasa with 5-1. Ecuadorian international Enner Valencia was the star of the show and should be secured this week after he finished the goal with four goals to his name.
ST: Lautaro Martínez (Inter Milan) - 87 OVR -> 89 OVR:
Inter Milan cemented their second spot in the Serie A standings, recording a narrow and hard fought 2-1 win against Cremonese on Saturday. Lautaro Martinez can be considered the best player on the pitch after he netted a brace in his side's victory and picked up a 7.5 from Gazzetta.
SUBS & RESERVES
SUBS
GK: Alex Remiro (Real Sociedad) - 82 OVR -> 85 OVR:
A lot of people will probably expect two Ligue 1 keepers in this week's Team of the Week and to be fair, it's absolutely possible but I'm instead picking Alex Remiro as my second keeper after he made a total of seven saves in Real Sociedad's goalless draw against Real Madrid.
CB: German Pezzella (Real Betis) - 77 OVR -> 83 OVR:
Real Betis took all three points on the weekend away at Getafe thanks to a late penalty goal but one of the reason they came this far was Pezzella who helped Betis to keep a clean sheet, making a number of interceptions, tackles and kept Getafe's attacker quiet throughout the game.
CDM: Mattias Svanberg (VfL Wolfsburg) - 76 OVR -> 83 OVR:
VfL Wolfsburg were one of the teams who scored a lot of goals after the restart of the Bundesliga and that also was the case midweek where they recorded a 5-0 win against Hertha Berlin. Svanberg was one of the best players that day, scoring one and assisting another and could pick up an inform this week.
RM: Franck Honorat (Stade Brest) - 77 OVR -> 83 OVR:
Stade Brest recorded a much-needed victory in their battle against relegation, hunting down their relegation rivals Angers with 4-0. Franck Honorat was named MOTM after he scored one and assisted another two.
LM: Stephy Mavididi (Montpellier HSC) - 77 OVR -> 83 OVR:
Stephy Mavididi could pick up his first inform this week after the English midfielder scored both goals in Montpellier's 2-0 win against Auxerre.
ST: Youssef En-Nesyri (Sevilla) - 80 OVR -> 84 OVR:
FC Sevilla continued their La Liga revival and recorded another victory on the weekend, this time they took all three points after a 3-0 win against Elche. En-Nesyri could be in the side this week after he scored two of the three goals for his side.
ST: Jean-Pierre Nsame (BSC Young Boys) - 75 OVR -> 83 OVR:
One of a few number of hat-tricks this week came from the Swiss League. BSC Young Boys recorded a 5-1 win against Winterthur and Nsame scored three of the goals for his side.
RESERVES
RB: Yukinari Sugawara (AZ Alkmaar) - 74 OVR -> 81 OVR:
Alkmaar recorded a convincing 4-1 win midweek against Go Ahead Eagles and Japanese fullback Sugawara could pick up his first inform this week after he scored one and assisted another two.
CM: Josh Campbell (Hibernian) - 62 OVR -> 77 OVR:
Celtic Glasgow and Rangers are usually the two side for informs when we're looking at the Scottish Premiership but this week it's Josh Campbell who will 100% pick up the inform after he scored three goals and assisted another two in Hibs 6-0 win against Aberdeen.
ST: Guarrotxena (FC Goa) - 65 OVR -> 79 OVR:
One who should be bascially guaranted to pick up an inform on Wednesday is Guarrotxena who scored three times in Goa's 4-2 win against East Bengals.
ST: Tasos Douvikas (FC Utrecht) - 70 OVR -> 81 OVR:
It not happens that often that two strikers of a team score three goals but none of them ends up winning the game. Exactly that happened in the Eredivisie on the weekend where Utrecht and Alkmaar played out a 5-5 draw. Both Greek forwards, Pavlidis and Douvikas scored a hat-trick but with Douvikas also registering two assists he should be secured an inform.
ST: Karim Onisiwo (FSV Mainz 05) - 74 OVR -> 81 OVR:
Mainz 05 survived a late Bochum rally to win 5-2 on Matchday 18. Karim Onisiwo played his part in all of the goals and despite not getting an official assist he should be in the side this week for his hat-trick.
