While Neymar being included in TOTW 5 saves it a considerable amount and makes playing FUT Champs this upcoming weekend a bit more desirable, there are certainly a few other good options in there that are nice to see. Honestly, the most interesting part for this batch of Team of the Week players is to see what sort of prices they settle at. There's already been a lot of discussion about how cheap the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team market already is this year, and that's clear across the board as Icons, Heroes, Promo Players, and even high meta gold cards are already considerably cheaper compared to previous years. There is a chance TOTW will decrease in value for playing FUT Champs and become more beneficial for budget-friendly squads.
FIFA 23 Team of the Week 5 - Is it worth playing FUT Champs?
It seems that most people are eager to play FUT Champs this weekend just because they will have a slim chance of getting themselves a first-owner Neymar in rewards, and this is understandable as he's historically been one of the best players to get on FIFA in the early months of the game. Outside of Neymar though, there are really only 3 or 4 other players that will be deemed desirable and hold some value.
These players are Barella, Vlahović, and Gomez. Sané can also fall into this conversation but because of the 2-star weak foot, a lot of the player base will steer away from him. The first three I highlighted all fit the meta well. Barella and Gomez will perform well in both current-generation and old-generation gameplay, it's Vlahović who might not be quite as successful for those playing on the old generation.
Outside of these four of five players though, TOTW 5 is a little bit light. This is where it gets tricky for those hoping to maximize profit for FUT Champs. It's certainly worth playing FUT Champs this weekend, as the potential of getting Neymar in your red picks is too good to turn down. What is recommended though, is to save your TOTW pack for a week when things are a bit more stacked. Unless you're super keen on testing luck for that Neymar.
Is it worth completing the Silver Stars Xavi Simons?
This is an absolutely fantastic Silver Star to get this early in the game cycle, especially considering the new chemistry system. Xavi Simons can be played at RW, RM, CAM, or CM which opens up a lot of different squad-building potential for those of you that enjoy collecting Silvers and completing the Silver Beasts objective regularly. A big bonus with Simons is that he is Dutch and playing in the Eredivisie, which is a league that commonly has a lot of good Silver players, which means you shouldn't have an issue with linking him into a team.
Yes, the 3-star 3-star combo isn't quite as ideal, but considering it's a Silver player that has the Outside Foot Shot trait, you should be able to make him work well regardless of which position you decide to play him. You will need to jump into the Live FUT Friendlies mode for this and play the Silver Lounge mode to complete the objective. If you haven't already started collecting Silver players in FIFA 23, this is a great time to start and can be at the heart of the team for months to come.
Complete or Yeet? Complete. It's very hard to complain about a player that has good stats, multipole squad-building options, and provides good links. Will you be going out of your way to complete the Xavi Simons Silver Stars objective?
