Hello and welcome to our prediction for Team of the Week 1 which will be released on Wednesday this week!
Before you jump into it, let me quickly remind you that we haven't got the whole database yet so ratings for some players in the subs and reserves are going to change based on what card they will have in FIFA 23, take that in mind when you discover the potential players! Now go on and take a look at the potential informs for Team of the Week 1 and check out what they have done for their club to be in here.
Starting XI
GK: Jeremias Ledesma (Cádiz CF) - 80 OVR -> 83 OVR:
There have been a few really good goalkeeper performances the past weekend which makes it a bit harder to choose. One of the contenders who could make it into the first TOTW this week is Cadiz shot-stopper Ledesma who made a total of six saves in his side's narrow 1-0 victory against Real Valladolid and made sure Cadiz picked up their first win of the season.
RB: Pablo Maffeo (RCD Mallorca) - 78 OVR -> 84* OVR:
RCD Mallorca secured their second win of the season and temporarily moved to ninth place in the La Liga standings after they beat Almeria 1-0. The golden goal came from former VfB Stuttgart left-back Pablo Maffeo who also made a crucial clearance and helped his side keep the clean sheet!
CB: William Saliba (Arsenal) - 80 OVR -> 83 OVR:
Arsenal will head into the September international break as Premier League leader after a comfortable 3-0 win at Brentford. There have been a few standouts but William Saliba put in an imperious display that day. He wasn't always dominant in the air but was on hand to mop up the knock downs from each aerial duel Ivan Toney won. A superb header added on top of the clean sheet should see him getting the inform this week and it would be a really good one for the start of the game!
RB: Daniel Carvajal (Real Madrid) - 84 OVR -> 86 OVR:
Real Madrid extended their perfect record in the 2022/23 La Liga campaign as they beat city rivals Atletico Madrid 2-1 in a hotly contested derby at the Wanda Metropolitano thanks to goals from Rodrygo and Fede Valverde. My pick for an inform tho is Carvajal who bossed his flank for Real Madrid, sniffing out any danger instantly and keeping Joao Felix quiet throughout. The right-back put in two tackles, one block and three interceptions, recovering the ball six times. He was immense for his side and I might even be the only one predicting him.
CM: Marco Verratti (Paris SG) - 87 OVR -> 88 OVR:
Paris Saint-Germain continued their impressive start to the Ligue 1 season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Lyon at the Groupama Stadium. Lionel Messi scored the only goal of the game and even though he got an 8 match rating from L'Equipe I don't think he'll pick up the inform for it and instead I'm going with Verratti who also got an 8 match rating. He was composed with the ball at his feet and helped drive the team forward. He was exceptionally accurate with his passing as well and ended the game with a passing accuracy of 96%. Surely not a great card to use due to his pace but a deserved one.
CAM: Teji Savanier (Montpellier Hérault SC) - 81 OVR -> 84 OVR:
HSC Montpellier bounced back from last weekend's 2-1 defeat against Angers SCO with a 2-1 victory over RC Strasbourg Alsace. Savanier was a class above any other player on the Stade de la Mosson pitch on Saturday. A Montpellier academy graduate, he surely would have been capped at full international level for France had he been given his chance first time round by the club. Savanier had his hands in both Montpellier's goals, assisting one and converting an injury-time penalty. L'Equipe awarded him with an 8/10 match rating and MOTM.
RM: Jonas Hofmann (Borussia M'gladbach) - 81 OVR -> 84 OVR:
Gladbach could have been forgiven for approaching the match with a sense of trepidation given the absences of first-team regulars Ko Itakura, Florian Neuhaus and Alassane Plea, especially given Leipzig's impressive display against Real Madrid in midweek. Yet there was no sign of nerves from Farke's charges as they immediately went on and scored the opening goal when he converted the rebound from a Thuram header. Hofmann then added his second goal of the game and could have easily scored another two this day but it was enough to seal all three points and being named MOTM.
LW: Cody Gakpo (PSV) - 83 OVR -> 85 OVR:
PSV Eindhoven defeated Feyenoord 4-3 in a thriller that sees the hosts go top of the table. PSV hadn't won against a traditional top three side since 2018 but that run ended with Obispo heading in the winner with seven minutes left to play. The real star of the show tho was Cody Gakpo who scored one of the goals and also assisted another three and picked up an 8 match rating from VI.
LW: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur) - 89 OVR -> 90 OVR:
Tottenham Hotspur picked up an impressive 6-2 win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday evening, the win takes them up to second in the league table, level on points with Manchester City. Heung-min Son produced an absolute masterclass after coming on as a substitute and grabbed a hat-trick for himself. The South Korean attacker have been dropped by his coach which might have been masterclass of a decision by Conte, the inform should be a lock!
ST: Gerard Deulofeu (Udinese) - 80 OVR -> 83 OVR:
Inter Milan's 2022/23 Serie A campaign went from bad to worse as they suffered a deserved 3-1 loss away to high-flying Udinese. The 28-year-old Spaniard put in a sensational performance for his side this afternoon as he registered two assists, and looked extremely dangerous from set-piece deliveries. Both of his direct goal contributions came from crosses and the forward could've also had a goal to show for his efforts when hit hit the bottom of the far post in the second half.
ST: Ciro Immobile (Latium) - 86 OVR -> 87 OVR:
Lazio shook of their painful 5-1 loss to Midtjylland with a dominant performance in a 4-0 win away to Cremonese. There are two strong contenders from this game who could pick up the inform and I went with Ciro Immobile who scored twice for Lazio and made sure his side bounced back with a convincing performance. If it's not Immobile it might be Milinkovic-Savic who also got a goal and registered an assist. Both picked up a 7.5 match rating from Gazzetta.
Subs & Reserves
Substitutions:
GK: Rafal Gikiewicz (FC Augsburg) - 77 OVR -> 81 OVR:
There have been a couple of standout performances form goalkeepers the past weekend but one who definetly should pick up the inform is Gikiewicz. Augsburg produced a shocking 1-0 victory over record champions Bayern Munich thanks to a goal from Berisha but Gikiewicz produced a number of stunning saves to deny Bayern a goal. Probably his most important one came in the final minutes of the game when Manuel Neuer was about to score his first goal since 2012 but Gikiewicz saved it and made sure Augsburg took all three points.
CB: Armando Izzo (Monza) - 79 OVR -> 82 OVR:
Juventus slumped to a concerning 1-0 defeat away at Monza on Sunday, as their search for a first away win since April rumbles on. Monza played with aggression and intent from the first whistle and took the game to Juve all afternoon, creating chances from all angles but lacking the quality in front of goal to score more. Their defensive qualities have been spot on tho and former Torino defender Armando Izzo showed a strong performance, helping his side keep the clean sheet and even though he wasn't named MOTM I can see him pick up the inform.
CDM: Palhinha (Fulham) - 81 OVR -> 84 OVR:
Fulham picked up their first away win of the season, coming from behind to seal a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Taiwo Awoniyi headed the Reds in front from a corner but a goal after half-time from Adarabioyo equalized the game and Portuguese international Joao Palhinha then scored an absolute screamer to make it 2-1 and complete the turnaround. Deservedly got named MOTM and due to the lack of options from the Premier League I can see him getting in.
CAM: Daichi Kamada (Eintracht Frankfurt) - 80 OVR -> 83 OVR:
After their historical first-ever win in the UEFA Champions League away at Marseille midweek, Eintracht Frankfurt clinched another victory away at Stuttgart, securing all three points with a 3-1 win over the hosts. Japanese international Daichi Kamada scored one, which was already his fourth of the campaign, and added an assist to his game. Kicker awarded him with a 1.5 match rating and MOTM.
ST: Mama Baldé (Troyes) - 75 OVR - 81 OVR:
Troyes went back on winning ways on Sunday with a 3-1 victory away at Clermont Foot, extending their gap to the relegation zone to now five points. The undisputed Man of the Match was Mama Baldé who scored twice and assisted another and should normally made it into the side. OVR Rating will change for this item!
ST: Sheraldo Becker (Union Berlin) - 76 OVR -> 81 OVR:
Topping the German football pyramid for the first time ever coming into the last weekend, Union had been shifted from first place momentarily by Borussia Dortmund's Revierderby win over Schalke. Union Berlin tho retained their lead at the top of the table beating Wolfsburg 2-0 and Sheraldo Becker, who just won the August POTM award, scored on and assisted another. As the August POTM should normally not be released in FUT I expect Becker to pick up the inform.
Reserves:
LB: Filip Mladenovic (Legia Warszawa) - 72 OVR -> 79 OVR:
Someone who's always reliable for at least one inform card every Fifa is Polish defender Filip Mladenovic. He could pick up his first inform this week after he scored twice and assisted the third goal in his side's 3-2 victory over Miedz Legnica where Mladenovic also was the one who scored the winning goal shortly after the second half started! OVR Rating will change for this item!
LM: Jack Diamond (Lincoln City) - 61 OVR -> 71 OVR:
We had a lot of hat-tricks this week to choose from so I expect some to miss out on an inform, especially those from the same leagues. One who should make it is Lincoln City's Jack Diamond who scored three goals in his side's 6-3 win against Bristol Rovers. OVR Rating will change for this item!
LM: Aitor (Panathinaikos) - 70 OVR -> 78 OVR:
As I said, we've seen a lot of hat-tricks the last weekend and another one who scored three times is the Spanish midfielder Aitor, this time being the only goalscorer for his side in their 3-0 victory over PAS Giannina. OVR Rating will change for this item!
LM: Tobias Heintz (Sarpsborg 08) - 64 OVR -> 74 OVR:
I'm sure you can guess what I'm going to say now - yes, another hat-trick. Tobias Heintz was the decisive player in Sarpsborg's 4-3 victory over Jerv, scoring three of the four goals to make sure his side took all three points. OVR Rating will change for this item!
ST: Markus Pink (SK Austria Klagenfurt) - 65 OVR -> 75 OVR:
The last player in my prediction here is, who would have thought, another player who scored three times. Austria Klagenfurt took all three points with a 4-1 against SCR Altach and Pink, as mentioned, scored three times. There is a little twist with this as there's another player in the same league who scored three times so it could also be him. OVR Rating will change for this item!
That concludes this week's Team of the Week predictions! What do you make of these predictions? Is there anyone else who should have made the TOTW? Let us know below!
