Overall, the first week of Rulebreakers was fairly good. We got a couple of fantastic SBC players and there were multiple valuable and meta players in packs, but it's time to see if EA has stepped it up a notch with Rulebreakers Team 2. The power curve has already been advancing fairly rapidly in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, which means EA will need to be on top of their game moving forward with all future promotions, to make sure the players stack up accordingly. For Team 1 we started with the players in packs, so this time it seems only fair that we kick things off by looking at the new Squad Building Challenges and Objectives.
Rulebreakers Luuk de Jong Objective Player
The new objective player is going to be very divisive across the community. If you play on next-generation, Luuk de Jong will be incredibly good because of the Legntrhy Accelerate type along with his height and fantastic shooting stats, however, for those on old-generation, there will be a fear that he will be clunky because of the 70 agility and 73 balance. So, is it worth completing the Rulebreakers Luuk de Jong Objective? Well, we have an entire in-depth piece covering this and it can be found here - Should you complete the Rulebreakers Luuk de Jong Objective?
Rulebreakers Becker SBC
We have another player pick SBC in FIFA 23, and these player pick SBCs are also pretty exciting. They are best when both options are usable and are truly unique, but at times it can be a case of one being considerably better and an obvious option. There are some huge differences between the two versions of Becker, but both are Right footed, with Medium Low work rates, both have 85 shooting, and can be started at ST, CF, or RM. One version has 3-star weak foot with 4-star skill moves, while the other is reserved.
The version will 4-star skills moves is meant to be a more agile option with +12 more dribbling and slightly more physicals and defending, and the Controlled AcceleRATE style which cannot be changed regardless of chemistry style. Meanwhile, the version with a 4-star weak foot has an insane pace at 96 and has the Lengthy AcceleRATE style, but the dribbling is pretty atrocious being low to mid-70s across the board. This poses the question of what you care more about in FIFA, and players will be able to make a decision that best fits their play style and needs. If you are wondering which version of Rulebreakers Becker should you choose, then you're in luck as we have a full article discussing and comparing the different options and answering should you complete the Rulebreakers Becker SBC.
Rulebreakers Franck Ribéry
In recent years, we have had to wait months into the game cycle before receiving Ribery in a promotion. However, today it is very fitting as he just announced his retirement. If you have a French and/or Serie A team, then you will be hoping to pack this insane Ribery Rulebreakers card. EA has reduced his passing by 2, but in return has given him: +22 pace, +16 shooting, +8 dribbling, +7 defending, and +15 physicality which includes +31 stamina. Ribery will be very expensive and rightly so
Rulebreakers Sergio Ramos
This Ramos card looks like it could be similar to the likes of Rulebreakers Alaba. It's always beneficial to have a ball-playing CB, but even more so now as it's crucial for the meta to have at least one. Ramos loses 5 shooting on his Rulebreakers but receives +19 pace, +3 passing, +4 dribbling, +6 dribbling, and +7 physicality which includes +19 stamina which makes him one of the best CBs in FIFA 23. He is also Lengthy without a chemistry style, meaning you can take your choice of Shadow or Anchor as the chemistry style, and he has the Dives into Tackle trait.
Rulebreakers Thiago
Another player featuring in Rulebreakers Team 2 that will cause a bit of a divide in the community. Without the AcceleRATE system, Thiago will likely be fantastic, but as he's got the Explosive AcceleRATE type, when that's applied, it will make him a bit less impactful in-game. You will without a doubt need a Lengthy defensive-minded midfielder to play alongside Thiago in order to get the best from him.
Rulebreakers Havertz
Will Havertz finally have a usable promo card? Maybe so, as this is a very well-rounded card for the current meta and can become Legnthy when you apply one of the following chemistry styles: Architect, Anchor, or Marksman. For a central CAM or even possibly a CF player, this is a very interesting option and should provide an impact in-game.
Rulebreakers Payet
Payet has managed to pick up his annual promo card pretty early into FIFA 23, which might help him be a more bit valuable and last longer in the power curve than usual. As he can be played centrally or on the left, it opens up some squad-building options, but he won't be everyone's cup of tea.
Rulebreakers Smith Rowe
In a similar fashion to Team 1 of Rulebreakers, it seems like EA are more than happy to reduce a stat that doesn't really impact how a player will perform in-game, and Smith Rowe is a wonderful example of this. EA has reduced his Defending from 32 to 28, but given him a massive boost everywhere else. Again, having the ability to play centrally or at LW, will open up some team-building options for those that wish to pick him up.
Rulebreakers Sissoko
Not sure about anyone else, but this is giving me flashbacks to FIFA 20 when Sissoko was one of the most broken and overpowered players in the game. Again in the theme of reducing a useless stat (which is a good thing), Sissoko's shooting goes down to 59 from 61 but in return, he gets a solid boost across the board. He's Lengthy before you even apply a chemistry style, so if you put a Shadow on Sissoko, you will end up with a very good CDM.
Rulebreakers Toney
Up until now, the only real complaint that could be made about Rulebreakers Team 2 would be that it has a lot of recycled promotion players from over the years. Things switch up a little with the inclusion of Ivan Toney, someone that has been deserving of a good card in FIFA to represent his real-life performances. He even comes with a Weak Foot upgrade, and I can already see him being a beast with that Architect chemistry style applied.
Rulebreakers Lacroix
Now it's time to return to the usual promo players, this time with an insane Lacroix card that is Lengthy as his base AcceleRATE. EA was obviously aware of how broken this card could be, as it was his pace they reduced by 4. He does however pick up +15 passing along with +7 defending and physicals, and +2 dribbling. You can pretty much apply an Anchor or Shadow and have yourself a cracked CB. For those that pack him, enjoy.
Rulebreakers Meunier
There's a lot of debate about whether or not the whole AcceleRATE system is good for the game or not, but one benefit is that the likes of Meunier will now be incredibly usable and offer a great option. Another player that can be Lengthy without needing a chemistry style, means you can focus on boosting whatever you see fit as he can play more defensively and offensively on the right side of the pitch.
Rulebreakers Ávila
This should be the cheap beast of Rulebreakers Team 2. He will have the controlled AcceleRATE type regardless of which chemistry style you apply, but his pace, shooting, and physicals are already great. Ávila boasts a 5-star weak foot and can offer a good link to those using Robertone from Team 1. Overall, this is a good alternative to have as a striking option in FIFA 23.
Rulebreakers Estupiñán
I wish I could be excited for Estupiñán as I do have a soft spot for Brighton, but this card is so lackluster. There really isn't anything beneficial about him as an LB option for your team. Yes, the pace is good and 84 defending and 81 physically hold up well compared to alternatives right now, but that 70 dribbling with 63 composure is just asking for disaster along with the 62 vision and low passing stats, it's hard to recommend Estupiñán as a good LB option.
What to expect from Rulebreakers Team 2 Mini Release?
If you are looking at this Rulebreakers Team 2 and are still left looking for more, then you'll be pleased to know that there will be more players added into packs on Sunday evening as part of the Rulebreakers Mini-Release for Team 2. With the mini-release we normally get three new players added into packs for the rest of the week, and then typically a new SBC player will be released. As we move further in FIFA 23, we can expect EA to also start adding an extra Objective player in with the mini releases.
Will you be opening your FUT Champs rewards now or wait for the mini-release to have all of Rulebreakers Team 2 in packs? Let us know!
