Hello and welcome to my La Liga Player of the Month October breakdown!
The nominees for the la Liga Player of the month have been announced and as expected we once again see Lewandowski and Valverde being among the nominees who, along with Griezmann, should be the main contenders for the award. While Lewandowski could pick up his first ever La Liga Player of the month, Fede Valverde could pick up his second of the campaign. See who is nominated won below, why they are nominated and how the potential winner could look like!
La Liga Player of the Month Nominees:
ST: Robert Lewandowski (FC Barcelona ) - 91 OVR -> 92 OVR:
Starting with Lewandowski, the Polish striker is still scoring whenever he wants since he joined Barcelona, leading the scoring charts with 12 goals and 4 assists, only his French teammate Dembélé assisted more goals (5). October was a pretty good month too for Lewandowski with 4 goals and an assist to his name and overall Barcelona managed to pick up 4 wins in October, the only loss was their El Classico defeat where Lewandowski contributed an assist.
RW: Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) - 86 OVR -> 87 OVR:
Next up is Fede Valverde, Real Madrid’s most In-form player this season so far and he could be on to pick up back to back Player oft he Month awards. He might not have scored as many goals as other nominees with „only“ 3 to his name in October but his goals have been as important as his overall performance in every single game. The Uruguayan midfielder, who is one oft he most versatile players in La Liga without lowering the quality of his game, seems to have unlimited stamina on the pitch and based on the hype around im this season so far I’m expecting him to be the top candidate for October, this time his POTM should be a RW card.
ST: Antoine Griezmann (Atlético de Madrid) - 85 OVR -> 86 OVR:
The third nominee and at the same third in the ranking for the most possible winner is Atletico Madrids Frenchman Antoine Griezmann. Atléti recently triggered his buy-clause and it looks like Griezmann is on the way back to his best as he had a really good month with 3 goals and 2 assists to his name and was his side’s best and most consistent performer in October.
ST: Joselu (RCD Espanyol) - 83 OVR -> 85 OVR:
Another nominee for the La Liga Player oft he Month award is Espanyol’s Joselu who is currently placed third in the scoring charts with 7 goals in total. Espanyol, just sitting 14th in the standings with one point clear of the relegation zone, drew most of their games in October (1 win, 3 draws, 1 loss) and that was mainly thanks to Joselu who scored four times over the month and made sure his side picked up two draws and a victory against Valladolid. He’s a deserved nominee but form me personally his chances to win the award are the same as for Mendez or Leon.
RM: Brais Méndez (Real Sociedad) - 77 OVR -> 81 OVR:
Real Sociedad could have gone unbeaten in oOtober and that would have been also thanks to Brais Mendez and his goal contributions. The Spaniard is one oft he most consistent players so far this season who not just contributes to goals but who also is an important piece in Sociedad’s overall performance. He got his nomination for the POTM thanks to 2 goals and 2 assists but will he win? Most likely no.
RM: Isi (Rayo Vallecano) - 77 OVR -> 81 OVR:
Next up is Isi Palazón from Rayo Vallecano who, in my opinion and without disrespecting him, is just nominated to make it seven nominees in total. Rayo Vallecano had a mixed month of results with losses against Almeria and a draw against Atletico Madrid and Isi got himself a goal and two assists. I would be very surprised and shocked to see him winning the POTM award.
ST: Sergio Léon (Real Valladolid CF) - 73 OVR -> 79 OVR:
The nominee who actually scored the most goals in La Liga in October but with less chances to win it is Sergio Leon. The Spaniard scored 5 goals with braces against Getafe and Celta Vigo but even though it would be a deserved winner I can’t see it happen.
So this is it, this was my breakdown for the La Liga Player of the Month October and the nominees! Who have you voted for and who do you think will win the award in October? Let us know in the comments!
