One of the best promotions in FIFA has returned, we now have Road To The Knockouts in FIFA 23. Now you can support teams while also having the potential for their RTTK card to be upgraded in FIFA. Let's take a look at all the new players, and we have a full explanation if you need to know how FIFA 23 Road to the Knockouts upgrades work.
Robin Gosens RTTK Objective
Now, I'm very excited for this one personally and it's not even because of the Serie A bias. Gosens is a tremendous LM or LWB/LB option and considering Theo Hernandez might be deemed unobtainable for some given his price, being able to pick up Gosens for free through objectives is amazing.
People had actually been using Gold Gosens and finding a lot of success thanks to his body type and AcceleRATE combo. With the ability to create hybrids with the German links and the ability he has to play CM once Custom Tactics are applied, you NEED to be completing this objective.
Lionel Messi RTTK
His max price range is 2 million coins and he's extinct on the market at the time of writing, and there's no surprise really, as it's Messi. Despite the small and agile players not being quite as powerful as they have been in previous FIFA games, it's fair to say everyone would love to pack RTTK Messi.
The combination of PSG and Argentina links makes him super easy to get on full chemistry and he is essentially guaranteed upgrades.
Aubameyang RTTK
Aubameyang was one of the three players that got revealed early and he has caught the eye of many for a good reason. Having used the gold version, he can be very good in-game but was lacking something special for the higher level of games.
It seems like the +4 upgrade has made him a much more interesting prospect for squad building. You will be relying on Chelsea and Premier League players to build his chemistry points, but that should be easy given the options that exist and many people already completed the Flashback Thiago Silva SBC.
Thomas Müller RTTK
He may only have been given a +1 overall upgrade, but the +9 pace upgrade all of a sudden makes Müller a pretty viable option to have in a team. Some still will look down on the card due to the 3* skills moves, but if you play a narrow system and want someone that can play an attacking CM role... then look no further.
Bayern and German links mean you shouldn't have any problems with getting him onto 3 chemistry points and after only 20 minutes of being in packs, he is already under 100k, so will provide a more budget-friendly option, especially when we consider he should be guaranteed at least one.
Phil Foden RTTK
Depending on how you like to play FIFA 23, this RTTK Foden could be an absolute gem for you. The gold card has created a bit of a love-hate relationship for many, but with the expected upgrades that Man City should help secure, he will be expensive.
The only downside could be the combination of 50 strength along with the explosive acceleRATE style, there's a chance he could get completely bullied. You should consider playing him at CAM instead of RW/RM.
Federico Valverde RTTK
We're only two weeks into the full release of FIFA23 and Valverde already has 3 different special cards, his TOTW, POTM, and now the Road to the Knockout. Could he be the new Nkunku? It is a very minor upgrade compared to his TOTW and POTM but the value comes from the inevitability of upgrades.
Real Madrid plays against Celtic, RB Leipzig, and Shakhtar Donetsk which means Valverde should receive both of the potential upgrades.
Niklas Süle RTTK
Welcome to the new CB that everyone will despise playing. The Süle gold card was already a menace to play against because of the lengthy acceleRATE and the fact he's 6'5" and an utter mountain in-game.
There are already plenty of good German links available, the only concern will be the current inconsistencies Dortmund has had, and if he will actually receive any upgrades.
Raphinha RTTK
Now we are talking. Raphinha has picked up a strong +3 upgrade and I think he will now be one of the best RW options in the game. He is close to being extinct on the market with his max price being 900,000 coins.
In the past playing for Barcelona would have ensured he receives the +2 upgrade but they have games against Inter and Bayern, meaning it could actually be very tricky. Currently 3rd in the group with just 3 points, it will take a big turnaround for this card to not, unfortunately, be stuck at 86 rated.
Thomas Lemar RTTK
When the database was released there was A LOT of excitement surrounding Lemar and his position change to CM. This was because if the gameplay was similar to FIFA 22, he would have been incredibly overpowered. However, he is an Explosive AcceleRATE player which is on the lower end of the power curve and dents his overall impact in-game.
Big bonuses are he's French so has an abundance of links and this year Atlético de Madrid has a few great link options. You will likely need to play him in the attacking third to get the best from him though, so be aware before you invest such a heavy amount in him.
Konaté RTTK
It's all about the lengthy players and EA are providing us with plenty of them. A French CB from Liverpool that has the lengthy AcceleRATE, how could it get better? With 82 base pace, Konaté is going to be incredible in-game.
It's highly likely that Liverpool pick up wins against Ajax and Rangers and progress to the Knockout, which means you can expect Konaté to receive the +2 upgrade and become 87 rated.
Zambo Anguissa RTTK
Despite being a Roma fan, I am very excited about Zambo Anguissa and the football Napoli has been playing in general. They are 1st in both the Serie A and their Champions League group and are scoring goals for fun.
Fingers crossed Napoli will pick up the 2 wins from the 3 remaining games as the boost to 87 rated would make this a fantastic card for months to come. The only slight concern is around the work rates, but they currently aren't as noticeable in gameplay so you should be fine.
Martin Ødegaard RTTK
Here you go Arsenal fans, you have a promo player in Ødegaard. There were many concerns from Arsenal fans that they weren't having a player featured in the FIFA 23 RTTK promo but now those worries can fade.
By the end of the group stage, you can fully expect this to be an 88-rated card BUT.. that doesn't takeaway the fact he has a 2-star weak-foot, which will drastically reduce his impact in gameplay.
Terrier RTTK
Do you still have flashbacks of seeing the French flag in a TOTS pack only to be disappointed when Terrier walks out? Well, he returns to haunt you. Jokes aside, he could actually be a very effective player in the current meta.
Terrier is 6'0" with the controlled AcceleRATE type and 90 base pace. He can be played on the LW or at ST opening up squad-building options. If you can overcome the 3* 3* combo for weak foot and skills moves, you will be able to find success with him.
Moses Simon RTTK
Well, we have ticked off the box of getting our annual Simon promo card. In previous years of FIFA, we would be looking at him as a cheap beast to fill out Ligue 1 teams, however, it's not quite the same outlook this year.
He's only 5'6" and is explosive, meaning that you will easily be beaten by the majority of fullbacks and CBs this year. If you do want to use him in your team, you will need to adapt from trying to abuse his pace down the wing and instead get the ball to him inside the box for maximum impact.
Gerard Moreno RTTK
Although the pack weight will be heavy for Moreno, it's still a surprise to see him under 40,000 coins within an hour of being released. He is essentially the cheap, Spanish Haaland with a little bit less pace.
Honestly, put a Hunter on him and he will score for fun with how the game plays at the moment.
Jonathan Ikoné RTTK
We round this off with Ikoné, whose gold card was actually surprisingly good in the first week of the game. He has 4-star skill moves but only the 3-star weak foot, however, he does have the flair and outside-the-foot shot traits.
Fiorentina currently has 4 points going into the last three games of the Europa Conference League group stage. With that said, there should be a high probability they advance from the group, so he should pick up at least one upgrade.
Dejan Kulusevski RTTK SBC
Kulusevski was arguably done quite dirty coming into FIFA 23 with the pace EA gave him, however, with the current meta this SBC could be a very tempting option. Obviously being from the Premier League means there will be a slight "Prem tax" applied to the SBC cost but overall it looks to be quite reasonable coming in at 175,000 coins.
The Swedish international can be played on the right side or centrally so it opens up some squad-building options. You will just be putting your faith in Spurs to win their upcoming games and progress in the group.
That rounds off the entire team right now, we should expect to see a few new players introduced on Sunday as part of the mini-release. Who are you most excited about and want to pack? Let us know.
