EA Sports FC 25 aims to bring about a fresh way to play the game we love, with massive overhauls to old mechanics as well as introducing brand new ones to capture authenticity and variety to a whole new degree, gameplay looks like it will be a whole new experience.
Let's take a look at the Top 5 new gameplay features in EA Sports FC 25:
1. FC IQ: The Tactics Overhaul
With FC IQ we will see a complete overhaul of the custom tactics mechanics in game. From setting up the Team Tactics, how individual players behave and interact in game as well as providing Smart Tactics mid game based on the flow of the game, the tactical experience in FC 25 will be the most in depth we have ever seen.
Player Roles will be crucial to team building, with each player being able to perform certain roles based on their position, the Focus of the role as well as their Familiarity will decide which players fit your system.
With a total of 52 Roles and Focuses available, the number of systems and combinations possible will be in the millions. To learn more about FC IQ in EA Sports FC 25 you can check out our in depth guide here.
2. Goalkeeper PlayStyles+
The introduction of PlayStyles in FC 24 notoriously left Goalkeepers out of the unique PlayStyles+ assignment, this has been rectified in FC 25 and we will finally see Goalkeepers receive the boosted traits based on real world data.
Goalkeepers will be able to receive one of the following SIX PlayStyles/PlayStyles+ in FC 25:
- Footwork
- Rush Out
- Deflector
- Cross Claimer
- Far Reach
- Far Throw
3. Professional Fouls
In EA Sports FC 25 you will have the option to commit Professional Fouls and use them as a tactical tool to affect the outcome of games.
Use your discretion in committing these as they are guaranteed to give your player a Yellow Card or even a Red Card if there is a clear goalscoring opportunity hindered.
You can perform a Professional Foul by pressing R1+X || RB+A.
4. Dribbling Revamp and New Skill Moves
Various improvements have been brought to dribbling in FC 25 including better turning animations at angles, new animations for dribbling, receiving the ball including new animations for receiving the ball with First Touch PlayStyles.
Major changes can be seen in the Let Ball Run mechanic, the animation will start on request instead of waiting for the ball to reach the player. You can request this by:
- Press and Hold R1 + LS (Away From Ball) || Press and Hold RB + LS (Away From Ball)
There are changes to old skill moves such as the Drag Turn, Drag Back Spin as well as new Trickster Fake Shots and 180-degree Flair Nutmeg animation.
Newly added skill moves include:
- Big Feint (2-Star Skill Move)
- Stop and Go (2-Star Skill Move)
- Step Over Ball (4-Star Skill Move)
- Toe Drag Stepover (5-Star Skill Move)
5. Corner Kick Assignments
Assignments replace the current Squad Roles segment of Custom Tactics, the biggest change we see here are Corner Kick Assignments.
You can now select which players you want occupying these three roles during a corner kick in game:
- Near Post
- Far Post
- Target Player (Attacking Corner)
The players for Near/Far Post will guard their post in a defensive corner and attack those posts in an attacking corner, the Target Player will be the central player and the focus of an attacking corner.
This will add an element of tactical nuance of selecting the right players as you might have to sacrifice offence or defence in order to get the right players in the spaces your need them.
